Tankless repair Mississauga

The difference between a tank water heater and a tankless water heater is that tanks pre-heat a limited amount of water per tank. A tankless water heater is more energy efficient because it heats up the water as it is needed, providing hot water indefinitely.

If you find you're not getting the hot water you need, start by lowering the temperature setting on your tankless water heater by a couple of degrees. It's counterintuitive, but it affects the hot/cold mix ratio and will activate the tankless water heater unit for lower-flow fixtures.

Signs Your Tankless Water Heater System Needs Repairs
  1. A drop in hot water pressure. ...
  2. Lukewarm water. ...
  3. The water heater keeps shutting off. ...
  4. Unusual behavior from other appliances. ...
  5. Leaks.

A standard water heater tank lasts about 8-12 years. A tankless water heater can last as long as 25 years!

The most complicated and time-consuming tankless water heater maintenance is typically descaling and flushing out the unit. Even with the inline water filter, lime and calcium deposits can build up inside the tankless system. If you have hard water, it's a good idea to descale and flush the unit once a year.

once a year
Keeping up with maintenance, including tankless water heater cleaning, should take place at least once a year. You may need to take care of other tasks, such as wiping down the exterior of the unit, more often, especially if the area where you install the water heater receives a lot of dust.

You may have heard that tankless units don't have a pilot light like your standard water heater. The good news is, your tankless water heater does have a reset button that will power up the unit once more.

If you have an electric tankless water heater, check your breaker box. It's likely that you blew a fuse on the outlet. If you have a gas water heater, make sure the gas supply is turned on for the water heater. If everything looks like it's supposed to, call your plumber and let them inspect the unit.

If you have good water flow ("pressure") at hot water faucets, but it's cold, then the water supply piping is not blocked and the problem is in the water heater itself, or in a mixing valve.

If your electric hot water heater is only lukewarm, then it's obviously not due to a gas issue. It could, however, be due to a power issue. In most cases, this is because the power source has been cut, most commonly because of a tripped breaker. Fix this issue by flipping the appropriate breaker back to “On.

Tankless water heaters usually last for around 15-20 years before they need to be replaced, but they may need replacing sooner if they start to break down or lose efficiency. Some common signs your tankless water heater needs to be replaced include: Low water pressure.

The good news is that tankless water heaters don't require much maintenance, either. A tankless system should be serviced as a part of the regular preventive maintenance that heating and cooling systems receive. Electric or gas components should be inspected.

The typical range for tankless heater installation is between $4,500 and $6,500, averaging out to around $5,500 (including the water heater, warranty and tune ups). The tankless heater installation without the unit can cost between $1800 and $3500, averaging out to around $2650.

120 degrees Fahrenheit is the safety recommendation against scalding, but 140° is the common default setting. Most experts agree that anything below 120 degrees creates a risk for bacteria to develop inside your water heater from stagnant water, such as legionella that causes Legionnaire's disease.

There are no renowned damages that come with turning off the heat supply for your tankless water heater. Turning off your water heater and the main water supply is best for you when you are going for a break.

With vinegar, you'll need to use 3 to 4 gallons as you'll have to empty the water out of your tankless water heater. You're going to clean the filter on the inlet side, pump it full of vinegar, and let it circulate through the unit.

Turn the gas shut-off valve counterclockwise to the “On” position. Turn the electric breaker back on or turn on the power switch to start the unit.

Tankless water heaters also use a burner lit by electronic ignition, so there's no standing pilot light.

The lack of hot water is a common problem that can be resolved by looking for loose connections to the water heater and resetting any fuses in the circuit breaker box that may have tripped, causing a lack of hot water. After about an hour, your home will be supplied with warm water again if the breaker tripped.

Inspect Your Shower Valve

The shower valve is in charge of mixing both hot and cold water to make it the perfect temperature for your shower. Sometimes, the washers or O-rings have worn out which makes the valve not properly work. This can cause cold water to come through the showerhead.

Labor cost to install a tankless water heater

Tankless water heater installation costs $300 to $2,500 for the labor alone, depending on the size, type, complexity, upgrades, and if the unit is gas or electric. Installing a new tankless heater requires plumbing, gas, venting, and electrical modifications.
